Show more This week on Out of Doors, we learn all about the Icelandic Jolabokaflod, which translates roughly to Christmas book flood. This tradition began during the Second World War, and every year since then, the Icelandic book trade has published a catalogue that is sent to every household in November. People use the catalogue to order books to give friends and family for Christmas. The books are opened on Christmas Eve and, by tradition, everyone reads the books they have been given straight away. We are focusing on nature books and hear from Mark and Euan about what they have chosen as their favourites and why.

Clare County Library announce new app and festive fun December 11, 2020 CLARE County Library have plenty to keep book lovers ‘appy’ this December. The library service has announced the development of an app to enhance visits to the library. You will soon be able to check in and check out your own books in the county’s Wi-Fi-enabled libraries, at De Valera Library, Ennis, Shannon, Kilrush, Scariff, Sixmilebridge, Ennistymon and Miltown Malbay. The app will also be able to check your own account, update your loans, search the catalogue, reserve books and e-resources. The Clare County Library app is free and available on the App Store and the Google Store.
