central european issues. so he to me is a credible person. i know he was engaged with the campaign and he stayed on good twerms the trump administration. the fact that he s going public i find interesting. clearly he is going public. he probably has already spoken to law enforcement. otherwise, why he would want to draw attention to himself? right. that s how you read it. he is in the blue tie that we have on the screen between jeff sessions and george papadopoulos, a very lucky barista. i mentioned donald trump at the head of the table and he is there popping up saying it happened. you think that s because he already told mueller s team. yes. and i think he s trying to provide a little cover for attorney general sessions. i think he is trying to say, it wasn t a big deal. except that it really, in and of itself it might not have been a big deal but what happened subsequently when the russians said we have dirt. and we don t know whether he went to russia.
trump has no compunctions. he doesn t know about the government. he just thinks he should be in charge. that is his whole life m.o. he does not fit in the presidency nor the government. nor does he know anything about it. so how long will this go on? it will go on nell leaves office. until he leaves office under his own power or somebody else s. mueller is a very careful, smart guy. he happens to be a republican. but there are republican who s are terrific. most of them are much too afraid of trump and trump s 35% of crazy people who are behind him to stand up to them. but there are republican who s are doing the right thing and there will be more of them, especially if trump falls below 30% andch i think is inevitable at this point. i do not think more than about a third of americans want to live in an authoritarian country. he is referring to the light and the darkness. it is this incredible test and
to stop doing what s political and start doing what s right. our country depends on it. legally this was the worst week of the trump presidency. now i ll joined on this truly scandalous week by lawrence o donnell who has had some truly memorable reporting. starting with news that broke monday. because that was the day bob mueller decided it would break. robert mueller got a guilty and that happened weeks ago. we learned about it today. on the same day that he indicted paf paul manafort. bad news, he will be forced with withdraw. now that nominee has been reported to be cooperating with
go back to that first clip you had of donald trump. this is a man 12 months ago who sounds like he s just learning what the powers of the presidency include and exclude. almost shadows of watergate. if we look at the resolution in the house today to frankly dismiss bob mueller, even though senator graham and senator tillis in the had senate have suggested they need a court to determine whether or not mueller will be dismissed. what we re seeing in the house among republicans over and over is this empowerment of donald trump. and it is different than country over party. this is also the article one authority that members of congress have that they re residing over to we ll empower and be complicit with this presidency. they re not just putting party first. they re putting the executive branch first when they have a higher oath to the constitution as a member of congress. your view as a former federal
up against mueller and saying jeff sessions did hear and address that proposed plan for trump to meet putin, another aide saying he told sessions. all this comes as we are witnessing a president under investigation this week, resisting and braying against laws that have always been bigger than any one person. how the system responds, how congress responds, will all have significant implications. with me now, a former federal prosecutor. and howard dean, a former governor for sxrermt a dnc chair, and david jolly, a former congressman from florida. i begin with you because these are your former colleagues and you spoke out this week asking for the opposite. asking for action to explicitly protect mueller. and saying certain types of actions would be unconstitutional. a couple things.
