weekend schedule. all right. alison, thank you. still early. looks like people are staying off the roads. good news. philadelphia among the areas under a snow emergency this morning. the city taking the brunt before the storm gets here to new york city. let s get to ryan young who is live in philly. we saw chad myers with the light fluffy variety. not what you have in philly. reporter: no. i would love to have that. instead we are getting pelted here with ice needles. that has been going for hours at this point. first, we had snow. you can see that behind us which collected over here. now it has moved into the icy/rainy mix. you look at the roads. this guy is driving normal speeds. it is really a sloppy mess out here. of course, if it gets colder, this could turn to black ice which could be a problem. when i stand here, you are dealing with the sloppy, slushy mess. that is what we notice over and over. the winds are the other
the city of philadelphia declaring a snow emergency as the storm makes getting around very, very treacherous. cnn s ryan young live in philly, where they could get more than a foot of snow. how s it feel? reporter: well, good morning, chris. so far, we re dealing with so far the ice needles at this point. the snow you can see behind us on this side, that accumulated mostly overnight. at this point, it s really almost a rain event. in fact, all the cars that have gone by have been slushing through this mess. the snowplows, not even having to put down the plow as they push through the area. you re really just dealing with water. that s what s really left here at this point. just this sloppy mess. cars have been out. there s a guy riding by on a bicycle in the last hour and a half. people are not worried about the actual snow at this point in this area. of course, schools are closed. we ve seen delays at the airport. 2,000 pieces of equipment on the roadways. so far as they drive by, th
