Well, it's another day and another Health Canada recall. While Kinder chocolates and many shellfish brands have been recalled this year, Health Canada and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency are now recalling a handful of ice cream products due to the presence of plastic and metal pieces. On April 20, 2022, Health Canada issued a nationwide recall and is urging Canadians who may have purchased the affected items to "not use, sell, serve, or distribute the affected products," many of which include popular choices from both Baskin Robbins and President's Choice.

A Chinese company has been forced to discard thousands of boxes of ice cream after three samples of the frozen treat tested positive for COVID-19.
On Friday, news broke that chocolate, strawberry, and taro ice cream produced by the Tianjin Daqiaodao Food Company were contaminated with the coronavirus, Huff Post reports.
The contaminated batches of ice cream were produced using raw materials, including whey powder imported from Ukraine and milk powder imported from New Zealand.
Although 4,836 boxes are expected to be contaminated, the Tianjin Daqiaodao Food Company has already sealed away 2,089 boxes of the COVID-19 positive ice cream, Sky News reports.
The FDA says Weis Markets is recalling 48-ounce containers of Weis Quality Cookies and Cream Ice Cream.
The containers have a UPC of 041497-01253 and a sell by date of 10/28/21. The ice cream was produced on 10/28/2020 and released for sale on 10/29/2020. The sell by date is located on the bottom of the container.
The ice cream was sold in 197 Weis Markets stores in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia.
At least one customer has reported finding a piece of metal. There has been one report of a customer who discovered an intact piece of metal equipment in the Weis Quality Cookies and Cream Ice Cream (48 oz). There is concern of an additional piece of equipment present in the ice cream product(s) possibly presenting a choking hazard, the FDA said.
