Earlier this month, on an episode of NBCâs âThis Is Us,â teenage Tess (Eris Baker) was kissing her non-binary partner when her mother suddenly walked in on them. In the immediate aftermath, Baker achingly conveyed the quiet devastation of Tessâs realization that something had shifted in her relationship with her mother, possibly irrevocably.
In âGodzilla vs. Kong,â Kaylee Hottle is a standout as Jia, a deaf child whoâs the only one who can communicate with Kong. The expressions of empathy and resolve that flicker across Hottleâs face register more vividly than the skyscraper-smashing battles between the titular titans.

Things are of course very different this year, and all performances for the Academy Award nominees for Best Original Song were performed during the preshow, which began at 6:30 p.m. ET., rather than being interspersed and performed live during the Oscars event at Union Station in Los Angeles.

Judas and the Black Messiah to Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams’ melodramatically hilarious track from
“He believed in me so much he would take me to music publishers when I was 14 or 15,” Warren said. “My mom would be saying, ‘Why are you doing it? Why are you encouraging her? She can’t make a living off that.’”
Warren, who grew up in Los Angeles, recounted her dad’s reply: “She has talent. She really, really wants this.”
Her gifts and drive led to success in a range of pop music genres and in film, with her past Oscar contenders including “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing,” by Aerosmith and featured in 1998’s “Armageddon.” It was a hit tune, one of Warren’s many that include “If I Could Turn Back Time by Cher. Toss out a big name Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, Adele and Warren has likely worked with them.
