Summary
On May 15, 2011, the NRM Caucus endorsed Ms Kadaga after CEC asked Mr Edward Ssekandi to step down for her. This was after Mr Ssekandi completed 10 years as speaker. In 2016, CEC again endorsed Ms Kadaga and ordered Mr Jacob Oulanyah to step down after she complained that Mr Ssekandi was allowed to serve 10 years as Speaker. Mr Oulanyah withdrew from the race after CEC members agreed that he takes over when Ms Kadaga’s 10-year tenure expires.
