The British Government over the weekend gave a seal of approval for more foreign investments in Lagos, as plans get underway for the take-off of the first waste to energy plant in the State.

The British Government has expressed support for more foreign investments in Lagos State, as moves for the first Waste to Energy plant in the state commenced.
This happened as a foreign energy firm, West African ENRG, disclosed plans to invest $150 million to build a 25 megawatts waste to energy facility that would process 2.5 tonnes of waste energy daily.
The Deputy British High Commissioner in Nigeria, Mr Ben Llewellyn Jones, made the remarks at the weekend during an inspection tour of Igando refuse dumpsite facilities of West African ENRG, in the company of state officials, led by the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr Tunji Bello.

Lagos State Government on Friday, sealed up the Daleko rice Market, in Mushin Local Governments Area for violating the state environmental laws.
The Managing Director, Lagos State Waste Management Authority, LAWMA,
Ibrahim Odumboni, who confirmed the closure, said the operators of the market had been served several abatement notices over improper management of waste in the market.
LAWMA, Enforcement and Monitoring Team, EMT, carried out the operation.
Odumboni, reiterated that Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu led-administration would not tolerate any act of environmental degradation and any offender caught would not be spared.
