There was panic in Imo State last Friday and Saturday as gunmen murdered seven suya sellers.
The traders were reportedly killed in separate shootings in Orlu and Umuaka in the Njaba Local Government Area of the state.
An eyewitness, Harisu Ishiaku, said that the suspected killers, who were dressed in military uniform and numbered more than seven, stormed the Afor Umuaka Market around 8.30pm, accosted the victims in their shops and shot them.
He said four of the victims were in the age bracket of 30 to 45 and had lived in the area for many years without any trouble or attack from any member of the community.
Narrating the incident to newsmen, an eyewitness, Harisu Umaru Ishiaku, said that the killers, dressed in Military uniform, stormed the Afor Umuaka market around 8:30 pm and attacked the victims.
He said four of the victims who are within the age bracket of 45 years and 30 years have lived in the area for many years.
While suspecting that the people who carried out the attack are strangers, he said there has never any issue between the deceased and people of Umuaka community.
According to the Imo State Coordinator of Hausa traders, Mallam Ibrahim Abdulkadir, the first incident happened on Friday when three Suya sellers were about to close for the day.

Residents of Imo State have been thrown into panic, following the murder of seven traders of northern extraction.
DAILYTRUST reported that the victims were killed in separate shooting incidents in Orlu town and Umuaka in Njaba Local Government Area (LGA), between Friday and Saturday.
An eyewitness, Harisu Umaru Ishiaku, who narrated the incident to journalists, said that the killers, dressed in Military uniform, stormed the Afor Umuaka market around 8:30 pm and attacked the victims.
According to Ishiaku, four of the victims who are within the age bracket of 45 years and 30 years have lived in the area for many years.

Contractors handling various projects in Bauchi State have been warned to either execute such projects according to specifications or lose the contract as well as be made to face the wrath of the law to enable the government recover the amount paid.
The Governor sounded the warning, on Saturday, while inspecting ongoing projects in Toro and Bauchi LGAs in continuation of his inspiration tour declaring that his administration will monitor projects execution closely to ensure that sort of standard was done.
