It was a tough road for Ian in particular, who felt isolated and began showing symptoms of depression. He started the year learning remotely from classroom teachers, and doing online work through the dual enrollment program.
“It was all right. It was fun,” he said. “It’s just that after a while, just my nerves and my anxiety and depression went over me and I decided nothing was worth doing anymore, at least school-wise.”
His grades, usually A’s and B’s, started to slip. He didn’t pass some of his classes in the first quarter. He didn’t see the point.
