A POOL has reopened after a year-long refurbishment worth £1.2m. Wildern Swimming Pool in Hedge End reopened last week following the works that began on November 25, 2019. The refurbishment included the replacement of the existing roof with an entirely new structure, new poolside seating space with around 60 seats, and a viewing area as well as installing translucent coloured panels to filter light and block direct views from outside the Wildern Leisure Centre building. The 40-year-old building was originally planned to reopen in the summer but was slightly delayed due to Covid-19 restrictions. Despite this though, refurbishments continued, and on Monday December 7, Councillors Derek Pretty, Cynthia Garton, Keith House and Ian Corben were all present for the reopening.
