one person has been killed. officials say things are looking better than they thought, though. but at this point, the fire has not been contained. and florida and the federal government are suing each other over an effort to purge the state s voting rolls of ineligible voters. the justice department says purge violates federal voting rights laws. now governor rick scott says florida is suing the government. he says the state needs access to a database that will help identify people who should be removed from the voting rolls. the homeland security has been stone walling to give us a database we re entitled to. we ve been asking for months. it will give us, make sure we do it the right way and so we were put in a position where we had no choice but to sue homeland security to get that database to make sure that your right as a citizen is not diluted by somebody that s a non-u.s. citizen illegally voting in our state. as you hear right there, governor scott says this is a
possible iranian nuclear weapon. i m wolf blitzer and you re in the situation room. he s made a fortune stoking conservative passions while poking and proding at liberals and rush limbaugh has seen his share of controversies but this time it s different. the outrage he sparked when he called a conception advocate a slut and a prostitute has snowballed, one after the other and major advertisers are pulling their ads from his radio show and there s no sign that the uproar is dying down. lisa sylvester is working the story. what s the latest on rush limbaugh and all his advertisers? reporter: hi, wolf, we re up to at least eight advertisers walking away from the show. today on his radio show, limbaugh apologized for his choice of words but does he seem concerned about losing those advertisers? the answer is, no. thank you. reporter: the reaction was swift and fierce, advertisers are pulling spots from the rush limbaugh show including quicken loans and the latest aol wh
everywhere. i thought it was a dream. a dream? more like a nightmare, if you want to be honest about it. this is what was left behind by a strong storm. total devastation. several tornadoes touched down. as many as 28 people are dead. in some areas, rescue crews worked deep into the night to find survivors and victims. national guard troops were called up to kentucky and indiana to the hardest hit communities. you can see tornado in tennessee. dozens of people were injured in the storms. we are watching all angles of the story this morning. susan c susan is in ohio. rob is in tennessee where we have seen significant damage. bonnie schneider is standing by in the severe weather center. the damage we have seen have been small towns like henriville. how bad is it? reporter: it is very bad. crushing damage. people here are reeling from what happened to the area. 15 deaths confirmed so far in the entire state of kentucky. a couple of them here in clark county. just to give you
let s talk about what concentrated areas are kind of in the bull s-eye, so to speak right now. florida among them. north florida and southern parts of georgia. it s really this squall line we are looking at right here that has the most potential for producing tornadic storms. right now there are no tornado warnings that are in effect. some of those thunderstorms could produce wind damage in excess of 60 miles per hour. sometimes those real down burst winds can cause as much damage as a tornado. you still need to stay indoors. another place that we are watching that s included in this tornado threat is jacksonville, florida. there you can see a live picture from jacksonville at this time. it s extremely windy. that s why you see all that crazy shaking going on on the camera there. 86 degrees. it s a very warm, very moist, ripe atmosphere. as that cold front starts to come on down and move into the region, that s when we are going to start to see that severe weather threat in
