get fired when you take a job. is crazy as it sounds, what you put forward is so interesting. i m not a psychiatrist, let s check that at the door. he was on this massive tv show, the essence of which was terminating and firing people. many wiser than i have said this president and presidency take on some indications of reality television. melissa: does it truly mean people are reluctant to take the job because they think they are going to get fired? when he called someone, i think their ego is he s calling me, i m wonderful, i m not going to get fired. you never think you re going to get fired. there are two aspects of this, discussing in a vacuum and the reality. as people have said, i think it s hard to turn down if the president comes knocking and
getting that icbm fully operational while all of this is taking place. time is of the essence. melissa: one of the major criticisms we heard of the president in advance to this meeting, people saying he s not going to prepare, that he s going to walk in and he could end up getting really hoodwinked because he wouldn t put in the time. are you concerned about that? especially given that he does now have ambassador bolton at his side, someone who is very sharp, very prepared and very strong. i think the president has one of the best national security teams around him since ronald reagan. previously h.r. mcmaster who has done a lot of work to prepare for this. we need to get unnamed ambassador on the state department side, we need to get the rest of the state department in terms of political appointees moved through the senate and fulfilled but i think he will be fully
the last decade or so have people trying to escape the violence and the political unrest in those central american countries. we have a process in place that works pretty well of determining whether they are legitimately fearing for their lives in which case there is our process. keep in mind that president trump ended one of those programs for honduras and i believe for guatemala. that program is not there. in all likelihood these 1500 people are going to be turned around and sent back where they came from. melissa: that s not the way we understand, the likelihood is that they will be taken into the country and given a day that they are supposed to show up in court, that s what a lot of experts have predicted is going to happen with them, that they will be let into the country and released into the community once they ve been taken into custody. i don t think they will necessarily be sent right back unless something different from what the experts have told us.
says he wants you and the administration but i don t think we ve seen a level statistically of this many terminations. melissa: a lot of people have wondered why he is going around doing so many things, even talking about the way in which he was released, i wondered if there s another agenda there. as a lawyer do you feel like he is teeing up for something? hears it somewhere speculation that i don t think it s that outlandish. the supreme court, they go around, find a plaintiff, find a case. maybe somebody enlisted him on this idea, the president can t pick the interim person because they have an agenda of what they want versus the president. melissa: that would be an interesting thing to look out for going forward, good insight, thank you. the u.s. and south korea kicking off annual joint military exercises after a delay for the winter olympics. how north korea is responding and what it means for a possible
if the president can get to a deal quickly it will calm people down, it will calm businesses down and will get back to enjoying these tax cuts but it s all about the speed of the negotiation there. melissa: it s about the speed of the negotiation for people buying goods but in terms of getting the deal done, the timeline screws up your negotiating style. it pressures him to knock at the best deal. he can t put a timeline out there but he has to get it done quickly. it s the uncertainty that s rattling everyone. it s not the size of the tariff, we are only talking about $3 billion in trade, that s a small number relative to what we export. the issue was how long will this go on and how many businesses will sit out there saying can i get my product, can i sell my product? you want to get that finished quickly so people aren t thinking about the uncertainty, they are thinking about who do i hire, how do i build my business? that s what we want to get back to. melissa: you mentioned
