going to price that in. if the market is going to fall out of the bottom tomorrow, oil is going to be down a couple of days if not tomorrow. the next few hours are crucial. if putin, the russian army has been successful in decoupling the ukrainian armed forces and severing their command-and-control links and is able to overrun them and the ukrainians don t appear to be putting up a fight, that s going to mean that this will be over very quickly. if it looks like the ukrainians are actually able to hold their ground and the russians were unsuccessful in a lot of their decapitation strikes, unable to sever the ukraine, break up the ukrainian armed forces, we are looking at an insurgency that could go on a long time and potentially be very troublesome inside of russia. very interesting meeting this week with regard to the sdr, their spy chief or the thing to watch for is the action in around the russian airport
we know putin very much speaks highly of stallin and i think he operates in that same off space in that he, i don t think, sees a diplomatic off space here. i think he wants to return russia to what their borders were pre-fall of the berlin wall. i think he s always viewed the west as the enemy of that and he s taken issue with the idea of what we calls american exceptionalism. he wants to return, really, russia to the soviet union. i don t think he s going to necessarily stop. i don t see a peaceful off ramp here. ambassador, you recently criticize the biden administration for, quote, being weak on sending major weapons systems to ukraine. can you elaborate on that, ambassador? well, i don t know if i used the word weak, but i said cautious, overly cautious.

reading each other today and what are the consequences if they get it wrong? i actually think they ve had a pretty clear-eyed view of each other now these last few weeks and months. you can argue about whether president biden went into the administration fully appreciating just how much vladimir putin was going to come to dominate it. but in the last few weeks and months when they had warning about his intentions in ukraine, president biden has been right on the money. the intelligence agencies have told him and president biden has told the world that putin was going to do exactly what he ended up doing despite the lies we heard out of moscow, despite the doubts we heard out of europe, it turns out the american intelligence on this was correct and president biden had a very clear-eyed view of putin s threat here. putin i think has a clear view of biden in the sense that he understood what exactly would be the response. so far the sanctions that were put in place are predictable, they
