obviously hadn t seen him since then. he brought his family here to visit some of his fallen comrades. this here section 60, people call it the saddest acre in america. i like to think of it really as the acre full of the most love in the u.s. military of so many places. over 900 fallen americans on the battlefields of iraq and afghanistan are laid to rest here. on this memorial day as in towns and cities across this country, people are here to pause, remember and reflect. this is just one place in the nation where that s happening today. what we can show you are so many people here. so many families. we have seen very small young children who don t even remember sadly their parents who fell in battle and we see battle buddies who leave a beer, a bottle of scotch on their friend s grave.
who unfailingly lock over those patriots known only to god but never forgotten. today a grateful nation thanks him as well. most americans don t fully see, don t fully understand the sacrifice made by the 1% who serve in this all volunteer armed forces. the sacrifice that preserves the freedoms we too often take for granted. few know what it s like to take a bullet for a buddy or to live with the fact that he or she took one for you. but our gold-star families, our military families, our veterans, they know this intimately. whenever i meet with our gold-star families like i did this morning, i hear their pride
