Blood clots or thromboembolic complications in patients with COVID-19 are associated with increased levels of various proteins that cause blood to clot, compared with people with blood clots unrelated to COVID-19, according to a small study by Yale Cancer Center researchers.
The more time that had elapsed since vaccination, the greater the odds of severe reinfection illness for older patients, physicians from Yale University found. The results highlight the need for timely receipt of booster shots, they say.
