Hyundai has released two teaser images that preview the interior of the all-electric Ioniq 5 prior to its world premiere on February 23. The Ioniq 5 is Hyundai’s first battery electric vehicle based on its Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) that features a flat battery, allowing the South Korean automaker to maximize interior space. One intriguing aspect of the 5’s interior that is previewed in these teasers is the innovative center console. Hyundai dubs the console the ‘Universal Island’ and notes that it can slide back and forth. In addition, the driver and front passengers seats are equipped with leg rests that allow passengers to relax while their vehicle is being recharged.

As with numerous other automakers, Hyundai is on a mission to introduce more electric vehicles into its lineup, so much so that the Korean marque has launched a dedicated Ioniq all-electric brand. The first product to stem from this will be the Ioniq 5 crossover, which is based on the charmingly retro Hyundai 45 Concept. As part of the exciting build-up to the Ioniq 5 s launch, Hyundai has now shared the first official teaser images of the vehicle, along with videos demonstrating its fast-charging and generator capabilities.
