University bids to help Glasgow pupils to become cyber security experts in the making

- A UNIVERSITY is helping coach the next generation of cyber security experts by supporting four secondary schools. Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) is working with Glasgow City Council to provide more than 100 secondary school pupils and their teachers access to its technical infrastructure. The widening access partnership will allow teachers to develop learning materials and will provide students a platform to conduct digital forensic experiments as they work towards their National Progression Award in Cyber Security. In addition, GCU will run an online Cyber Futures session for the 100 pupils as part of Cyber Scotland Week, which runs from today until February 28.

Hyndland Secondary demand for emergency food help doubles

Demand for food parcels is said to have doubled in the current lockdown at Hyndland Secondary in Glasgow A SCHOOL in one of Glasgow’s most affluent areas has seen the number of emergency food parcels handed out to families double in the current lockdown. A charity has put out a plea for donations for Hyndland Secondary in the city’s west end, saying  demand had increased in the second lockdown with around 50 families now in need of help. The Wheel Trust, a youth project based in the west end of the city, said another charity which had been assisting the school “was longer able to” and that it had used up an allocation of food vouchers.

Hyndland duo host global charity quiz

Hyndland school pupils host global quiz to raise cash for Alzheimer s Scotland A HYNDLAND secondary pupil has held a global charity fundraiser in honour of grandfather who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Lois Gunn enlisted the help of her pal Ella Bonnyman to host an online quiz night to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Scotland. Sadly, 11-year-old Lois’ grandpa was diagnosed with the cruel disease several years ago which spurred the Hyndland Secondary pupils on to bring in the cash. While remaining in their separate West End homes, Lois and 12-year-old Ella entertained guests from across Glasgow as well as Spain, Sweden, London and Forfar.
