It’s an invitation to worship with no spoken word, just music. The Big Sing will welcome any interested singer to join in a choir of hymns on July 25. The free event is one of the first of its kind in Acadiana, said Benjamin Harlan, who is leading the service at First Baptist Lafayette.  It s patterned after a British Tradition. Small parish churches would practice hymns then join together at London s Royal Albert Hall with an 800-person choir and the BBC symphony.  The whole evening is about just getting together to sing, Harlan said. If you ve never heard a hymn sung by that large a gathering of people who are like-minded, it really is an extraordinary thing to hear.
