We were the biggest event going on in the country, which was rather scary when you think about it, before everything kind of shut down, said Rob McCann, public relations director for the Sweetwater Jaycees.
Now, as the state begins to open again from the COVID-19 pandemic, the roundup finds itself in a unique position once more, the celebration of slithering serpents serving as something of a test run.
The event runs through Sunday at the Nolan County Coliseum, 220 Coliseum Drive, in Sweetwater, and features a carnival, guided hunt opportunities, dancing, a gun, knife and coin show, and, of course, hundreds and hundreds of roiling reptiles.
