An Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) will visit Telangana on July 31 to assess the damage caused by floods in the state following the recent heavy rains.The team will be led by National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Advisor Kunal Satyarthi and will consist of representatives of ministries/departments of Agriculture, Finance, Jal Shakti, Power, Road Transport and Highways and National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC).
The Indian state of Telangana has been put on high alert after heavy rains caused flooding in low-lying areas. Bhadrachalam, home to a popular temple, saw the Godavari river reach 49.80 feet, with a third and final flood warning level of 53 feet. The two teenaged girls, who were crossing the stream, did not realise the current of water and got swept away, police said. Their bodies were found by local people later, they said.
