Hy-Vee Named One of the Best Supermarkets in the Nation by USA Today | AM 600 WMT

By Julia Bertino Apr 26, 2021 (West Des Moines, IA) Midwest grocery store chain Hy-Vee is named one of the best grocery stores in the United States. On Monday, Hy-Vee announced that it made USA Today’s 10 Best Supermarkets in the nation list in the 2021 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards. Hy-Vee came in at Number 2 on the list among grocery retailers across the country. Hy-Vee has more than 275 stores across Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin and employs more than 88,000 people. The grocer says its sales top $11 billion annually. “We are honored to be recognized as one of the top grocers in the nation,” said Hy-Vee Chairman, CEO and President Randy Edeker. “We thank our customers for their loyalty and our dedicated employees for providing exceptional service.”

Hy-Vee to Roll Out In-Store Nail Salons

Hy-Vee, Inc. has teamed up with The W Nail Bar to open several in-store nail salons by the end of 2021 inside select Hy-Vee locations across the company’s eight-state market area. The first salon is scheduled to open inside the Bettendorf, Iowa, Hy-Vee early next month.  When asked by Progressive Grocer the exact number of planned salons, a Hy-Vee spokeswoman said that “as we solidify more specific numbers,” the company would share them.

FMI s Leslie Sarasin: Food industry can shape a better normal

Changes, opportunities brought by COVID-19 outlined in FMI Midwinter keynote Grocery retailers and suppliers adapted and came through for U.S. consumers when the COVID-19 crisis hit, and food industry stakeholders can help create a “better normal” as the nation emerges from the pandemic, FMI-The Food Industry President and CEO Leslie Sarasin said today in a keynote speech at the FMI Midwinter Executive Conference. “COVID-19 has changed our world. It has changed the way we work, the way we socialize, the way we engage in commerce and the way we live our lives. As many have observed, there simply is no going back to the normal we knew before the pandemic,” Sarasin said in the videoconferenced event, titled “Delivering a Better New Normal.”
