TAWAU: More than 2,000 people participated in the first Tawau Matsuri (Japanese festival) at the car park of Kam Ling Seafood Restaurant, Kubota Square.
SJKC Hing Hwa Tawau will be celebrating its 100th anniversary (1923-2023) on April 23, 2023.
The school is planning to organise a series of activities. Among them are Jogathon, Fun Fair, Back To School, Grand Reunion Dinner, performances and more.
Its organising chairman Lee Muk Sui said it is not easy for a small school like them to reach 100 years.
“The journey was difficult but we made it. It took lots of hard work, dedication, commitment and countless sacrifices to be where they are today,” he said, referring to past and present students, teachers, headmasters and headmistress, staff, management, board members and parents, among others.
He hoped the Alumni, in particular, would take the opportunity to support and participate in the various efforts taken in preparation for the grand celebration.
