However, Beth Fields, the city s director of infrastructure and development, told more than 20 people in the Hutton Room of the Richmond Municipal Building and others participating on Zoom that the city already is fielding development inquiries.
“In partnership with the Economic Development Corporation, we have had some different developers that have come to look here specifically because of the investment we’re making in the Loop and the infrastructure, Fields said. They are very interested in potential apartment units, potential retail, potential restaurants. Those are some of the projects that they’ve spoken to us specifically about, and they have looked at specific real estate and toured specific real estate that is on the Loop because of their interest and because of the investment that’s being made.”
RICHMOND, Ind. Information about the next steps in the city s bicycle and pedestrian paths will be available Friday.

Phase 2 of the Loop project is being designed, with plans for construction to begin in February 2022.

The Indiana Department of Transportation has pledged $2.72 million to pay for 80% of the Phase 2 construction as well as 80% of the estimated $80,065 needed to purchase rights-of-way for Phase 2.
