alka-seltzer plus. hurricane joaquin is headed for the bahamas. come this weekend, it could be bad news for people here on the east coast. earlier today, the storm became a category 1 hurricane, which means sustained winds between 74 and 95 miles per hour. the storm is expected to increase in strength over the next few days and could become the first hurricane to make u.s. landfall in 15 months. some hurricane models show the center of the storm staying out over the water, many predict it will make landfall anywhere from north carolina to new york this weekend. despite the varying predictions, folks on the east coast should be aware of the potential for hurricane conditions. virginia governor terry
