floodwaters. that s why this water gets very nasty during a hurricane because you don t know what exactly is in the water. and then it s all going to mix with the storm surge flooding. once that starts to push in, after we get to about 11:30 this morning. winds are still gusty. the ground is saturated. the trees are weak from the persistent wind. we re still expecting downed trees. it s already knocked out the power to pretty much all of wilmington. we still have the wind. we re losing the rain. and it s also going forward as people do kind of trickle out of their holes. the water on the street is not to be trusted. you can t tell just how deep the water goes. just 12 inches of water will float a car. and two feet of water will float a car away. so really you can t trust it. even after the storm stops and it s not falling from the sky. it s waert on the ground you need to worry about.
