that s why you see street and highway flooding. here are projected rainfall amounts for the next two days. much of the central and northern part of the state looking at two to three inches of rain. a good soaking for many areas. over to the pacific, we have hurricane ignacio. hawaii is to the left. that storm is pushing off to the north and west. it is a strong category 4 storm. sizable hurricane. good news with ignacio is it will weaken as it moves off to the north and west. by tuesday 90-mile-an-hour winds and it continues to weaken. the main threat for the islands are heavy surf 15 to 20-foot waves. not too concerned about tropical storm-force winds but the surf. in the east this week, the big concern is the heat wave for new york city, boston and philadelphia. get ready to sweat it out. i say bring out the bathing
moving across haiti, but nothing more than a blurb on our satellite moment. this, however, could move just offshore and pick up some of the energy from the gulf of mexico allowing for a little bit of a development, but nonetheless the big story going forward will be the heavy rainfall. in fact, we currently have flood watches from daytona beach through orlando, tampa as well as miami and ft. myers. however, one other part of the world that is extremely active in term of tropical activity, we have three major hurricanes lining up one after another across the central and eastern pacific. i m going to focus on one, the more immediate threat. that would be hurricane ignacio. check this out. there it is, the hawaiian islands, that area will remain threatened by the storm. in fact, we have tropical storm force winds facing the eastern
so heavy rain from erika, 3-6 inches potentially for south florida and parts of florida over the next couple of days. and we re in the tropical season so we re going to have to monitor what remains of erika. hurricane ignacio. it is a hurricane and it s expected to become a category 3 and possibly affect hawaii over the next couple of days. there s the radar over the hawaiian islands but taking a look at the track right now of ignacio. we think over the next couple of days strengthening category 3 storm and as it heads towards the islands, north of the islands, still the potential for heavy rain, downpours as well as gusty winds. so we re certainly watching that. it is tropical season. what s behind erika in the atlantic, the next named storm will be fred. we ll have to monitor that as we get into the next couple of days. still very active, but the good news, of course, is erika is no long longer. back to you, leland. a lot of folks in florida who
