WASHINGTON – A Michigan company known for releasing toxic chemicals into air and water is under criminal investigation (link is external) after spilling “several thousand gallons” of liquid contaminated with the cancer-causing hexavalent chromium into the Huron River.
State regulators say testing is ongoing and caution residents to still avoid stretches of the upper river. One official calls tests so far ‘encouraging.’
