Dr. Samuel R. Dismond Jr. died Friday, Feb. 5., according to Flint Mayor Sheldon A. Neeley, who said he received the news from a member of Dismond’s family Saturday morning. Dismond was 89. He was born in Harrisburg, the son of Samuel R. Dismond Sr. and Carolyn Dismond. “I’m so happy that prior to his passing, we had the opportunity as a city to present Dr. Dismond and his family with a key to the city,” Neeley said. “We honored him for his lifelong achievement and dedication to the Flint community. I’m so happy that we were able to do so prior to his passing instead of doing it posthumously. That is a blessing in itself.”
