Waterford’s Thomas Barr has stormed into the semi-finals of the 400m hurdles at the Tokyo Games this morning, coming second in his heat behind two time world champion, Norway’s Karsten Warholm. Drawn in lane number seven, with Warholm outside him in eight, Barr tracked the Norwegian in third before finishing strongly to take the second of the four semi-final qualifying spots. Barr’s time was a very respectable 49.02 with Warholm winning in a time of 48.65.
