Officails and youths working on environmental issues continued to call on all citizens to take part in reducing the use of plastic, as well as to properly dispose of used waste in order to participate in preserving the environment and promoting public welfare.
Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Ngo Minh Chau has met leaders of localities of Laos, Cambodia and the Republic of Korea (RoK) who were in the city for a friendship dialogue.
An estimated 500 people, including representatives from the Ministry of Tourism, Phnom Penh Municipal Administration, civil society organisations and youths, will gather to celebrate World Tourism Day 2002 with a massive rubbish collection programme in the capital.
The Phnom Penh Municipal Hall has reminded the public to separate their rubbish, as strict measures, including fines and other legal action, will be imposed soon. The reminder came during a meeting last Friday between municipal deputy governor Huot Hay and district governors to discuss the new waste rules, issued by the governor last September.
The Phnom Penh Municipal Administration will from February impose fines on those who do not sort out their rubbish properly and those who dispose of waste outside of the allocated time slot previously outlined by the municipality.
