Osun State Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, yesterday, inaugurated the state chapter of Hunters Group of Nigeria (HGN) and charged them on patriotism, integrity, diligence, loyalty and honesty in the discharge of their duties.
The governor said the new layer of the security outfit was put in place to further harness the diverse security apparatuses by getting the locals who understand the terrain involved in securing and guaranteeing the security of lives and property of the citizens.
He also said the gesture was aimed at further helping to complement the efforts of the conventional security agencies.
Inaugurating the group at Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, Osogbo, Oyetola said that the hunters would work in the steps of the extant security outfits to complement the efforts of other security agencies in a bid to deliver security in every nook and cranny of the state.

Hunters Group of Nigeria (HGN) yesterday stormed the National Assembly complex in Abuja to seek the opportunity and recognition under the law to assist the federal government in tackling the ravaging insecurity in the land.
The Commandant of the Akwa Ibom State Command of the organisation, John Essien, who spoke with journalists, said they specifically needed the backing of the law to compliment the efforts of the relevant security agencies in apprehending bandits and the insurgents terrorising the country.
He also disclosed that they were at the National Assembly for a public hearing on a bill for an Act to establish the Nigerian Hunters Council of Nigeria.
17-year-old girl drowns in Asa River, Ilorin

A 17-year-old girl drowned on Wednesday at Asa river, along the Harmony Estate bridge, Kulende area of Ilorin, Kwara State capital.
The spokesman of the state fire service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, disclosed this in a statement in Ilorin on Wednesday.
He said a team of firemen was summoned to the scene of the incident through a telephone call at about 13.09hours on Wednesday.
The spokesman, however, expressed sadness that the victim was rescued dead by the firemen.
Her body, he added, was later transferred and handed over to the DPO of ‘E’ Division, Kulende estate area in Ilorin.
