Feed Ontario began its road show in Thunder Bay Friday to highlight the findings of their annual Hunger Count Report, which noted an increase in unique individuals going to food banks and the number of visits over the last year.
Last year the number of Canadian families requesting food assistance had reached an all-time high, with Alberta, unfortunately, having the highest food bank use in the country, according to Food Banks Canada's Hunger Count Report for 2022 .
In March 2022 alone, food banks across Canada had 1.5 million visits, a 15 per cent increase from the year prior and the highest recorded usage on record.
