The European Union will cease all funding to Hungary if Budapest does not lift its veto on providing military aid to Kiev by the bloc at a summit in Brussels on February 1, the Financial Times newspaper reported on Monday, citing an EU document.
Brussels owes Hungary 13 billion euros ($13.6 billion) from the European Union s funds and has to unfreeze the funding without taking into account planned changes to the bloc s budget, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said on Wednesday.
Hungary has so far received no official statements from the European Commission on the possibility of unfreezing 13 billion euros ($13.6 billion) in EU funds or any conditions for this move, Hungarian Minister for Regional Development Tibor Navracsics stated on Tuesday.
