We have a campaign that was permeated by issues of gender and race and class. When a woman at the top of the democratic ticket for the first time. When a billionaire at the top of the republican ticket that have it discourse. Also in this campaign we sought thought differences from campaigns in the near past it enters into the discourse in new and different ways. In ways that are perpetrated in ways that we have not seen in previous campaigns. It is not to say that they didnt have sexism and racism. In part due to the campaign and the ways in which they played into that campaign we expect them to play large roles. We already see in terms of policy donald trump promising to make an executive order to build a wall along the u. S. Mexican border. We also have seen it. With regard to gender and gender equality between three and 4 Million People marching across america in response to the administration and for gender equality. We already see important dynamics and articles come into a polit
Business and back in oh four, oh five and oh six, it was all the rage to go overseas. The manufacturers were fleeing the u. S. And manufacturing seemed dead in the country. I never believed that and always felt this country has the most innovative, most productive workers in the world. The products that we come up with, the Refined Processes that we developed set us apart. I started investigating these old manufacturing buildings and got lucky on a few to create value for local companies to expand near their headquarters rather than going overseas. Certainly the energy resurgence, the realization that supply chain are inherently fragile and more and more things are bringing Companies Back on sho shore. When did you decide to run to congress. My feeling was we should be doing better than this. We should have more opportunity for americans to get great jobs and see the jobs pay more overtime, for them to create Small Business in their garage to go on to become the apple and the hp and th

I have a very simple job this morning to introduce our moderator for today, larry jacobs professor of walter and Joe Montville professor study of politics at the department of Political Science at the university of minnesota. He also directs the tenor for this study of politics and governance and he is a prolific author and scholar in writing and some of the most important issues of the day. In the last year or two where he has authored books i can think of unfettered power, Health Care Reform in american politics in an important study on politics and Public Opinion as well.
