We ve spent so much time applauding the NHS this year that we have perhaps forgotten it s not all milk and honey in the land of kaolin and morphine. The fact that NHS death squads are patrolling our streets, knocking on doors without invitation and assessing on the basis of one conversation with a senior citizen who might understandably be confused whether or not they should have a Do Not Attempt To Resuscitate order (DNAR) displayed in their home is appalling. The thought of this happening to my mother and other elderly relatives shakes me to the core, as I m sure it does you.
