To be obtain no-kill status, shelters and rescues have to have a placement rate of 90% or higher. With this in mind, no-kill doesn't mean no euthanasia, as some organizations may consider this in the event of a continuous decline of an animal's health or if they're deemed a danger to the community and all other options have been exhausted.
