PETALING JAYA: The Army has deployed its 91st Assistance Regiment, 91st Royal Engineer Army Regiment and the Second Royal Engineer Army Regiment to construct a compact Bailey 200 bridge at Kampung Belimbing, Pahang.
In a statement on Thursday (Jan 14), it said the team was deployed to the location on Tuesday (Jan 12). The bridge construction was conducted to reconnect three locations which were cut off - Kampung Serengkam, Sri Makmur and Sri Jaya - after the original bridge collapsed from erosion due to strong river current. It will benefit over 2,600 people affected there, the statement read.
The statement added this was the second bridge constructed by the Army in Pahang, after the first bridge was completed at Kampung Lechar, Ulu Dong, Raub on Jan 9.

RAUB, Jan 6 A total of 172 federal roads and 97 state roads nationwide were reported to have been affected by floods that hit several states.
Senior Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the number included roads in six states Pahang, Perak, Terengganu, Johor, Kelantan and Selangor.
“The total also includes four collapsed roads, three reported settlements and two collapsed bridges.
