Bensalem man gets 6-14 years in prison for crash that killed father of four

A Bensalem man will spend up to 14 years in state prison for causing a crash that killed a father of four last year. On Wednesday, more than a dozen friends and family members gathered to honor Ron Ronnie Swanson, who was killed when Cooper Finley, 32, crashed head-on into his vehicle in Bensalem in March. Finley was sentenced to six to 14 years in prison, followed by seven years of probation. Family members recalled Coach Ronnie, as a man who would do anything for anyone, and had a great sense of humor.  He just had something special about him, Justin Swanson, Ron Swanson s oldest son, said in a victim impact statement. Joseph Robert O Boyle, 22, of Bensalem, has been charged with criminal homicide, burglary, criminal trespass and possession of an instrument of crime in the Nov. 2 slaying of James Sowa. Bucks County District Attorney Matthew Weintraub announced the charges on Friday.

Lidl introduces plans for more stores in Bucks County

Lidl US, the American division of the German supermarket giant, is planning stores for Bensalem and Bristol Township, in addition to Warminster, where it is well into the application process for a store set to open in 2021. The chain, which has stores in 32 countries around the world, began opening locations in the United States in 2017 and now has 130 stores in nine states. The Warminster store would be the first in Bucks County.  Kyle Smyth, Lidl s real estate representative in this region, said the company is the world s third largest retailer and has almost 11,000 stores in Europe. They re almost like a Wawa on every corner over in Europe, he told the Bristol Township Council this month as it approved a subdivision/land development plan for a Lidl store site.
