The Magic got the strong start that s been missing in recent weeks, bolting out of the blocks to take a healthy lead after the first quarter but were slowly reeled in by the Mystics as the game progressed.
The Mystics have now moved to within one-point of the Stars at the top of the table but showed their depth of talent to patiently build into the game before hitting the lead for the first time early in the final quarter.

60-50 defeat in the cauldron of ILT Stadium Southland on
Monday night.

the Mainlanders racked up their third win in a row.

A 56-52 win over the Central Pulse in Porirua has consolidated the Steel s spot in third place, now three points clear of the defending champions.
But it took every ounce of southern fight to snatch the win.
The early deadlock was broken by the Pulse with the long stretch of Kelly Jury troubling the Steel shooters into errors, but a run of five unanswered goals gave the visitors the first real break as they ended the quarter 18-14 ahead.
