Zena Meras, mother of a 17-year-old employee who saw the attack, told ABC7: She heard them arguing. And she saw him shoot and heard the shot and this guy ran out. Supposedly he said to the little boy I just shot your mom and now I m leaving . And he just took off out of the door.
Whittier Police Hugo Figueroa said the attack appeared to be a domestic incident but did not give further details of their relationship

A woman was shot and killed at a Kohl s store in a California mall early on Tuesday evening during an alleged domestic dispute.
Officers found the woman dead inside the department store at the shopping center in Whittier just after 5:30 p.m.
A man and a woman were seen arguing near the cash registers before the man pulled out a gun, shot the woman and fled the scene, police say. It appears that a male and a female were in some type of verbal altercation inside of the Kohl s and at some point the male produced a handgun, shot the female and fled the scene, Whittier Officer Hugo Figueroa told reporters at the scene.

WHITTIER (CNS) - A woman was shot and killed while arguing with a man in a store at a shopping mall in Whittier and the gunman was on the loose this morning.
Police were called about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday to the Whittwood Town Center on Whittier Boulevard near Santa Gertrudes Avenue after reports that shots were fired, according to the Whittier Police Department.
The victim was found on the ground inside the store and died at the scene, police said.
“We don t know if it was domestic related, Officer Hugo Figueroa told NBC4. “From what we re gathering it did appear the male and female knew each other. They were having some type of verbal argument while she was checking out and, at some point, he produced a handgun and shot her.
