âWe canât cook them fast enough,â fire Capt. Nate Albrecht said.
The outpouring of support from the community for the fundraiser was a âgood problem to have,â but the volume of people totally messed up the departmentâs planned in-and-out strategy, Albrecht said.
He spun negative thoughts on the wait time by saying âthe good news is the food comes out hot.â
âPeople need to realize, weâre not potato pancake experts. Weâre firefighters first,â Albrecht, 27, said.
In addition to potato pancakes, the department cooked up haluski, New England clam chowder and pasta with broccoli.
Wayne Williams, 79, of Dallas, bought one of each.
