The new ferry service would operate between municipalities in Hudson County as well as to New York City.
Officials from the Hudson County Planning Department led a discussion on March 4 about the prospect of ferry service to and from the west side of Bayonne. The county has been surveying residents as part of the Hudson County Ferry Service Expansion Study to gauge interest in ferry routes between local municipalities as well as to New York City.
Meeting virtually, more than 50 people took part in the event, including Hudson County officials, City of Bayonne representatives, real estate developers, and commuters.

Many Hudson County municipalities have ferry service to and from New York City but not within Hudson County.
As Hudson County looks to study the expansion of ferry service, surveys are lacking responses from Black residents.

Bayonne Community News, cofounder of Black in Bayonne Camille High explained efforts to help the Hudson County Ferry Service Expansion Study.
Expanding ferry service
The county has been surveying residents as part of the study, to gauge interest in a a ferry route between local municipalities. Instead of going from Weehawken directly to Manhattan, new ferry routes could carry riders from Bayonne to Hoboken.
