Hoboken, Jersey City officials coalesce at Pier A Park to kickoff Citi Bike expansion

Hudson County View Hoboken and Jersey City officials coalesced at the Mile Square City’s Pier A Park this afternoon to finally kickoff their Citi Bike expansion that was years in the making. “There was a little bit of a dissonance between the bike shares that we had: Jersey City and New York City had Citi Bike, which fit together, we had another provider that was not Citi Bike. We’d spoken, once I got elected, about how we could make things easier for our residents,” Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla said at the press conference. “The residents in Jersey City, the residents in Hoboken, and really just kind of exercised some common sense. When you’re living in Hoboken and working in Jersey City, or living in Hoboken and working in Manhattan, we want to try and make it as easy as possible.”

Jersey City Council approves Citi Bike agreement

Hudson Reporter Jersey City Council approves Citi Bike agreement 950 bikes will be deployed under unified system with Hoboken × Under a new five-year agreement, Citi Bike will expand to a total of 82 docking stations, 66 of which will be in Jersey City. Jersey City’s Citi Bike program will expand to 150 additional bikes and 15 new stations after the City Council adopted a resolution approving the new agreement on Feb. 24. The agreement should provide more connectivity with Hoboken if the City Council there approves the agreement at an upcoming meeting. “We have had great success in our valued partnership with Lyft, and this agreement is the latest step in our commitment to establish a comprehensive transportation network that includes mass transit, the Via system we implemented, and the growing bike share program, to better connect our residents to jobs, schools, and other important opportunities,” said Mayor Steven Fulop.
