Forgive me for the terrible expression but friends, I’m on a journey. A dental journey.
In truth we are all on lifelong dental journeys, but around the time my teeth became my responsibility instead of my parents’ (well, let’s be real, my mother’s) I chose to ignore mine.
Given the choice between expensive dentistry and an expensive social life, you will be unsurprised to hear that in my twenties, I chose the latter.
By the time my thirties rolled around, things were bad. I had a couple of emergency root canals, which did nothing for my perception that dentistry was unaffordable.
