The Educational Federal Credit (EdFed) has announced the start of their annual Hubert O. Sibley 2 + 2 Florida Prepaid Tuition Scholarship program, which begins on Friday, February 2, 2024. A report of a man with a gun near Hubert O. Sibley K-8 Academy caused the northwest Miami-Dade school to go into lockdown Wednesday afternoon; however, no one was hurt and officials soon lifted the “code red” status.
Magnet programs were initially created to promote innovation and integration by offering specialized curriculum to draw in students outside of schools' residential boundaries. District officials hope the programs will pull more kids into under-enrolled schools.
