Richard Watkins has produced about 60 free, downloadable books, articles and translations, including a comprehensive bibliography of works relating to mechanical watches, a history of the origins of self-winding watches, a study watchmaking and the American system of manufacture, a detailed explanation of repeater mechanisms, and many more. He has translated and annotated several books including books on 18th century watchmaking (by Ferdinand Berthoud, Jacob Auch and Vigniaux), Eugene Buffat s history and design of the Roskopf watch, Francois Crespe s essay on repeater watches, Jacques David s reports on American Watchmaking in 1876, Andre Francillon s history of Longines, Bruno Hillmann s treatise on the keyless mechanism, Jerome Lalande s diary of his trip to England in 1763, and William Blakey s description of making watch springs. He has also published Edward Marsh s histories of the Waltham Watch Company, C.E.L. Camus s treatise on the teeth of wheels, and other books and articles
