lawyers for planned parenthood are back in court right now to ask a judge to try to keep missouri s last abortion clinic open. the clinic s license was set to expire last friday but the judge over seeing the case issued a temporary restraining order allowing it to continue its operations. nbc medical correspondent has been following the story from the start and he joins me now with more. where do things stand with this case? you re exactly right. last week they got the temporary restraining order. without that, they would have had to stop doing abortion services on friday at midnight. the judge said let ice ha s hav hearing for an injunction on tuesday. right now, today they are meeting to make a decision. they think they will ask for a continuance and find out when they get in preliminary injunction or don t. if a judge rules the clinic
themselves. it s quite a heavy lift. the question i put to you is the question i put to some democratic staffers i talk to. you have john dean early next week and then what? the reason i ask you this question is you re one of the federal prosecutors who signed the letter that the president would have been charged with obstructing justice based on the mueller report. what do you think should happen? you know, it s a different question. but mueller gives congress a roadmap. he says i lacked jurisdiction to charge the president, but here s the evidence that i found. congress it s up to you under the constitution. more than a thousand former federal prosecutors have reviewed the report and said based on the evidence that mueller s accumulating, if i was charging an average person in an average case i would bring obstruction charges. and the remedy for those charges, the political remedy would be impeachment.
