The Michigan Educators Rank-and-File Committee and the International Youth and Students for Social Equality at the University of Michigan call on members of the Lecturers’ Employee Organization to vote “No” on the sellout contract announced by the LEO leadership and organize a strike to halt the repression of peaceful student protests at U-M and nationwide against US/Israeli genocide in Gaza.
Fearing a merger of the movement of students against war and genocide with workers’ struggles, the U-M lecturers’ union leadership defied a strike authorization vote and hurriedly signed a tentative agreement that fails to meet the workers’ demands.
The ongoing protests at U-M, as well as campuses across the US and internationally, will not be able to force their administrations to divest from Israel, let alone stop the genocide, so long as they remain isolated on the campuses.
