The Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) yesterday announced that it would suspend water rationing measures for Taichung, Miaoli County and northern Changhua County thanks to seasonal plum rain and heavy rainfall brought by Tropical Storm Choi-Wan last week.

The Council of Agriculture’s Forestry Bureau on Saturday closed a dozen hiking trails in Kaohsiung and Pingtung County to tourists until Friday over COVID-19 concerns.
The enforcement of mask rules for hikers was not feasible, the agency said, adding that due to the outbreak, there was a shortage of medical personnel to rescue stranded hikers.
Pineapple exports exceed 18,222 tonnes, COA says

Taiwan had exported 18,222 tonnes of pineapples this year as of Wednesday, with 61.9 percent sold to Japan, the Council of Agriculture (COA) said yesterday, adding that South Korea and the US are also new markets for the fruit.
After China suspended imports of Taiwanese pineapples from March, the council has worked to expand other export channels.
It aims to export 30,000 tonnes of pineapples this year, Department of International Affairs Director Lin Chia-jung (林家榮) said.
Farmers in Nantou County’s Mingjian Township on Tuesday sort locally produced pineapples to be boxed and exported.
