YEREVAN, APRIL 3, ARMENPRESS. You cannot surprise the population of Nagorno-Karabakh with the sounds of shots and guns. People living in a fragile world have long been accustomed to the feeling of a constant threat of attack. The same was on April 2, 2016, but the next Azerbaijani provocation quickly turned into a large-scale military operation. Military posts, as well as areas populated by peaceful inhabitants, were targeted by the Azerbaijani forces.
Today marks fifth anniversary of 2016 April War
Five years have passed since the 2016 April War in Artsakh. Azerbaijan unleashed a large-scale offensive along the entire Artsakh-Azerbaijan contact line on the night of April 1 to 2, using almost all types of military equipment in its arsenal.
The clashes, traditionally dubbed “the Four-Day War”, continued until April 5, with the fiercest battles occurring in the south (Hadrut) and south-east (Martakert) directions of the contact line. The adversary used heavy artillery, armored equipment and aerial vehicles to infiltrate deep into the defensive lines of the Artsakh Defense Army and occupy tactical positions.
The Azerbaijani army performed artillery attacks on the peaceful settlements of Artsakh and permanent posts of several military units.
